Tel Aviv University Redesign

MY ROLE

UX Consultant / Art Direction / Web Design

BACKGROUND

Tel Aviv university is the largest research university in Israel, with a wide range of fields of study and research and over 30,000 students. TAU comprises 9 faculties, 27 schools, 98 departments and nearly 130 research institutes and centers. Its academic staff includes professors and researchers that are among the top in the world.

THE CHALLENGE

The university's website was built in stages; some of these stages were significantly well-funded and invested, but other parts were varying quality. The website lacked a uniform, incorporated identity and a functional front end design.

In addition, a massive data flow had to be included (alongside separate areas for faculties and other school divisions) which created difficulties in the way information had to be structured and laid out.

THE SOLUTION

The main website as well as the faculties and the registration websites were redesigned anew with a unified look and feel that represented the university while lending expression to its excellence and values. Israel's leading business magazine even awarded the new website "best digital experience" and made a note of praise to its "user friendly and clean" layout, as oppose to other universities' online websites.
